Donny Edwards born in Iowa and raised in Lake Jackson, Texas. He grew up listening to Elvis music and watching movies of the Rock "N" Roll legend. As years went by Donny was constantly being told how strong his resemblance was to Elvis as he was studying the Kings every move and vocals. When Donny won a local Elvis contest in Texas, he then decided that he wanted to show his talent to all the fans that loved and respected the King. He then moved to Las Vegas to start his career.
In October, 2004, Donny had the honor of being asked by the family of Dale Earnhardt, Jr. to perform for a Nascar party hosted by the drivers, family and friends. Not only was his performance raved about, but it was an exciting experience to perform to the many celebrities that attended. Donny had the opportunity to perform for the New York Jets during a Monday Night Football Halftime Show between the Jets and Titans, which was aired on ABC and seen nationally. Other national TV shows Donny appeared has appeared on is ABC’s The Next Best Thing, The "Vegas Show", MTV, The Travel Channel, Fox Sports Net and Fox News.
In May 2005, when “The Young & The Restless” daytime soap opera was scouting for the look and sound of Elvis, Donny was offered the job immediately after he auditioned. He surprised many of his fans as they watched their favorite soap opera only to see Donny Edwards on the show with a singing role. Later in the year, Donny won the “People’s Choice Award” as the best 50’s Elvis from the Gibson Guitar Company in Nashville. This is one of many of his first place winnings.
2006 started off with Donny Edwards taking “1st Place” in the Tribute to The King contest at the Isle of Capri Casino in Mississippi being awarded $25,000.00.
In June of 2006, Donny was asked to perform at the 50th anniversary of Elvis returning to Tupelo. Donny had the pleasure of performing with The Jordanaires in front of 14,000 people in Elvis' hometown. Since then, Donny now performs in many shows with the Jordanaires, The Sweet Inspirations, and DJ Fontana.
2007 started the year off winning another King Champion contest taking 1st place again winning $25,000.00. In August, Elvis Presley Enterprise held their first Ultimate Contest where Donny was one of the top three winners.
Donny is the most sought out Elvis Tribute Artist in the country and performs in Casinos, Theaters, and Corporate Events and throughout the US and Internationally including the UK, Japan, Mexico, Hong Kong, Argentina, Costa Rica, Canada ,Chile, Finland and Venezuela. Upcoming shows starting in the Fall will be touring dates throughout Australia, returning to Finland, Denmark, Sweden, and Germany.
Donny has recently been signed with a major European record company administered by Universal Music Publishing. He has been in a studio in Spain recording a double album which should be released later this year.
Donny Edwards is a versatile performer with the ability to re-create each era of Elvis Presley’s life.
